Practice Manager, Jane Campbell is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice including HR, patient safety, high quality patient service provision, premises, IT and finance.

Our team’s main objective is to provide excellent, high quality patient care and services. Our staff help patients with enquiries and any problems that they have, from booking appointments, ordering medication to arranging emergency ambulances. In the course of their work, to assist the clinical team, our staff have been instructed to ask our patients for more information regarding their health. This is to ensure that the correct appointment is made with the correct clinician or service. Portland Medical Practice operates a Zero Tolerance Policy and an Unacceptable Actions Policy.
Our staff are entitled to feel safe, protected and secure in their workplace. Any abusive, aggressive or threatening behaviour will be reported to the Practice Manager and where necessary, acted upon. Please treat our staff with the respect that they deserve.

Health Visiting Team
Our Health Visiting Team are based at the Treeswoodhead Clinic and can be contacted directly on 01563 507960.
Our midwife, Annmarie consults at our Hurlford Clinic on a Tuesday afternoon and our Kilmarnock surgery on a Thursday morning. All appointments are pre-booked. For non urgent enquiries please telephone 01563 578595, if your message is urgent please telephone the Maternity Assessment Suite at Ayrshire Maternity Unit 01563 825300.
Dietician, Aimee Mitchell Aimee provides a weight management clinic within the surgery by appointment or by GP referral.
Mental Health Worker Charlie Howie is based at Portland Medical Practice throughout the week.
Patients may be triaged by our medical administrator staff to Charlie for an appointment or telephone consultation. Patients are referred to Charlie by our GP, ANP and Nursing staff.
Advanced Physiotherapist Practitioner Helen Brown is based at Portland Medical Practice two days per week. Referral to Helen is via our clinical team.
General Practice Clinical Pharmacists Louisa and Heather.
Our Pharmacy Team provide daily support and guidance for our clinical team, working closely with staff dealing daily with patient medication queries and hospital discharge letters.
Community Connector Sharon Taylor Sharon offers support for our patients and will work with patients to find community services to make a positive difference to personal circumstances. Support with bereavement services, benefits, housing or work, help with developing existing or additional interests or activities, or worries in relation to personal relationships or managing daily life. Sharon can chat with you about your needs. Appointments for this service are by GP referral.
Smoking Prevention & Stop Smoking Advisor
Denise Killin from Quit Your Way Stop Smoking Service works at Portland Medical Practice each Thursday morning from 8.00am-12midday with our patients who would like to seek advice on reducing exposure to Second Hand Smoke or who wish to stop smoking. Denise provides advice and a service to suit you for stopping smoking which includes, support in one to one appointments, free Nicotine Replacement Products, access to Champix and advice on e-cigs.
